THE ABILITY OF UNDERSTANDING CONCEPTS, REASONING, AND SELF REGULATED LEARNING OF MATHEMATICS STUDENTS X IN TRIGONOMETRY MATERIALS

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low students understanding ability and mathematical reasoning on the material of trigonometry. So this study aims to determine the ability to understand the concepts, reasoning, and self regulated learning mathematics of class X students on trigonometric material. This research uses qualitative approach. Subjects were randomly selected from class X of 5 students. Instrument used is the ability of concept understanding test, mathematical reasoning, and non-test in the form of self study questionnaire as many as 16 statements. The results showed that students have the ability to understand concepts and mathematical reasoning on trigonometric material is quite low and has a good self regulated learning. It can be concluded that: (1) the ability of understanding mathematical concepts of class X students on trigonometric material is still quite low. (2) The students mathematical reasoning ability in class X on trigonometric material is low. (3) There is a relationship between conceptual understanding ability and mathematical reasoning. And the self regulated learning of student on mathematics learning and mathematics ability test on trigonometric material is good.
