THE EFFECT OF TURMERIC (Curcuma Xanthorrhiza) ON REPRODUCTIVE ASPECT OF MALE MICE (Mus musculus) SWISS WEBSTER Study Program of Biology, Departemen Pendidikan Biologi, Faculty of mathematics and science education,, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Abstract Turmeric rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) containing various chemical compounds including curcumin, protein, starch and essential oils are known to degrade cell proliferation. The aim of the study aims was to determine the effect of turmeric extract on reproductive aspects of mice (Mus musculus) male. The subjects were 24 male mice, and divided into 4 groups (control, 140 mg / kg, 280 mg / kg and 700 mg / kg). Mice were treated by gavage for 30 days after the previous acclimatization for 7 days. Samples taken from the epididymal sperm in mice and testing the number, motility and sperm abnormalities. While testicular taken to get the incision and measure the weight of the seminiferous tubules of the testes. The data obtained were analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney (p <0.05) with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that turmeric extract for 30 days significantly influence the decrease in testicular weight, but no significant effect on sperm count, motility, abnormalities and testicular histology incision.
