Abstract

Along with the development of technology, there are some Android-based apps that can be used as learning media and resources. Some of them are Quranic tafsir (interpretation) apps available on Play Store. This research aims at analyzing the extent of learning Quran effectiveness by using Quranic tafsir apps available on Play Store. The method employed in this research was survey to 100 college students. They were assigned to learn a verse using some tafsir apps. This research resulted in the following findings: 1) there were four tafsir books used as their references in understanding the Quranic verse, which were Ibn Kastir, At-Thabari, Fi Zilalil Quran, and Al-Munir; 2) the learning process was very effective and efficient due to the references that were well-received and recognized by the majority of Muslims; and 3) the learning results showed that the students were able to skillfully mention the conclusion of a verse based on the scholars opinions and works, and to show mutual respect and tolerance to different opinions among the scholars. Thus, it could be concluded that Android-based tafsir apps were very useful to be used as media and learning resources in understanding al-Quran.
