The Development of Computer and Internet-based Moving-Asynchronous Language Laboratory Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Abstract The challenge of a postmodern language laboratory is to formulate a comprehensive concept of moving and internet-based laboratories. The development of a postmodern language laboratory is identical to internet connectivity and computer technology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development and basic concepts of moving-asynchronous language laboratory. This is a qualitative research employing case study design. The results showed that language education institutions that were connected to the internet could develop moving-asynchronous language laboratory. In a moving and online laboratory, users did not always sit in the laboratory room. They could sit in the park, in the classroom, in the class hallway, or even outside the school environment as long as they were connected to the internet. The laboratorian was responsible to guide the learners learning language and in charge of arranging a schedule or program that had to be completed by the learner. Through asynchronous language laboratories, learners could start learning at different times with other learners. They could also complete the program with a relatively different pace with other learners. Thus, it could be concluded that the concept of moving-asynchronous language laboratory was an alternative to the development of language laboratories.
